The chivi vireo (Vireo chivi) is a small South American songbird in the family Vireonidae. It was formerly considered a subspecies of the red-eyed vireo. It is usually green to yellow-green in color with off-white underparts, and a gray crown. It has a whitish supercilium extending over its ear coverts, and its lores are dull gray in color. The chivi vireo has nine subspecies. It is found throughout most of northern, eastern and central South America, only being absent from southern Chile and southern Argentina. It inhabits multiple types of habitat across its range, and appears to adjust well to slightly disturbed habitat. The chivi vireo is mainly resident, but at least two of the subspecies inhabiting the south of its range are known to be migratory.
The chivi vireo mates from May to June or October to January, depending on the region and subspecies. It makes cup nests and lay eggs in clutches of 2–4 which are incubated by the female, taking 10–16 days to hatch. Nestlings take 10–13 days to fully develop. The majority of the bird's diet is composed of arthropods, although some subspecies eat fruit and some are also thought to be nectarivorous.

Die Art wurde als konspezifisch mit dem Rotaugenvireo (Vireo olivaceus) angesehen, dann aber aufgrund molekularbiologische Untersuchungen als eigenständig abgespalten.
Der Vogel kommt als Standvogel vom Nordosten Kolumbiens und Venezuela, Guyana und in weiten Teilen des östlichen Brasiliens sowie entlang vieler Flüsse im Amazonasbecken vor, aber auch im Westen Kolumbiens bis äußersten Nordwesten Perus, örtlich auch im Osten Perus und vielleicht im äußersten Südosten Ecuadors sowie in nördlichen und östlichen Teilen Boliviens. Als Zugvogel oder als Teilzieher kommt die Art im südlichen und südöstlichen Brasilien, in Paraguay, Uruguay und im nördlichen Argentinien vor sowie in südlichen und östlichen Teilen Boliviens. Diese Populationen ziehen zum Überwintern über das Amazonasbecken bis Südvenezuela, Ostkolumbien, Ostecuador und Ostperu.
Der Lebensraum umfasst Wipfelbereiche in Wäldern aller Art, trocken und feucht, Waldränder, baumbestandene Flächen, Galeriewald, Restinga, dichtes Gebüsch.

A juruviara-sul-americana (Vireo chivi), ou apenas juruviara, é uma pequena espécie de ave canora da família Vireonidae. Foi anteriormente considerada como uma subespécie da juruviara-boreal (Vireo olivaceus). Existem 9 subespécies reconhecidas. Essa espécie é geralmente de cor verde a amarelo-esverdeado com plumas esbranquiçadas e uma coroa cinza. Tem um supercílio esbranquiçado estendendo-se sobre a cobertura das orelhas, e suas costas são de cor cinza fosco.
É encontrada na maior parte do norte, leste e centro da América do Sul, estando ausente apenas no Chile e no sul da Argentina. Habita vários tipos de hábitat em toda a sua extensão e parece se ajustar bem a hábitats ligeiramente alterados. É principalmente residente, mas pelo menos duas das subespécies que habitam o sul de sua distribuição são conhecidas por serem migratórias.
A época de acasalamento varia entre maio-junho ou outubro-janeiro dependendo da região e subespécie. Fazem ninhos em formato de copos e colocam entre 2-4 ovos, dos quais são incubados pela fêmea e levam de 10 a 16 dias para eclodir. Os filhotes levam de 10 a 13 dias para se desenvolverem completamente.
A maior parte da dieta dessas aves é composta por artrópodes, embora algumas subespécies comam frutas e algumas também sejam consideradas nectarívoras.
