The green parakeet (Psittacara holochlorus), green conure, or Mexican green conure is a New World parrot. As defined by the International Ornithological Committee (IOC), it is native to Mexico and southern Texas in the Rio Grande Valley.
The green parakeet is 28 to 30.5 cm (11 to 12 in) long and weighs about 230 g (8.1 oz). The sexes are alike. Adults of both subspecies are generally green that is paler and yellower on their underparts. Their cheeks and throat have variable amounts of red speckles. Their underwing coverts are yellowish green and the undersides of their flight feathers and tail are olive-yellow. Their iris is orange-red surrounded by bare pale beige skin, their bill horn colored, and their legs and feet brownish. The subspecies P. h. brewsteri is overall somewhat darker than the nominate and has a slight glaucous cast on its head.
The nominate subspecies of the green parakeet is native in eastern Mexico from Nuevo León and Tamaulipas south to Veracruz. The subspecies P. h. brewsteri is in the northwestern Mexican states of Sonora, Sinaloa, and Chihuahua. In the United States, the species is established in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas; that sub-population's origin is unknown but could be derived from introduced individuals or by natural dispersion. Sightings in California, Florida, and New Mexico are believed to be of escaped or released cage birds and the species is not on those states' lists. In its native range, the green parakeet inhabits semi-open landscapes including deciduous woodland, gallery forest, and scrublands. It shuns humid lowland forest and is typically found at elevations between 500 and 2,000 m (1,600 and 6,600 ft). In Texas it is also found in cities and towns.

Aratinga zelený (Psittacara holochlorus) je středně velký středoamerický papoušek. Jeho celkové zbarvení je zelené, naspodu těla světlejší. U některých jedinců jsou na hlavě jednotlivá červená pera. Ocas má zelený, vespod olivově žlutý. Okolí oka je zbarveno oranžovo-žlutě, duhovka je červená. Nohy jsou hnědé. Celkově jde o jeden z nejméně nápadnějších druhů aratingy. Aratinga zelený typicky dorůstá velikosti okolo 32 cm a dosahuje váhy 250 gramů.

El perico mexicano o aratinga verde (Psittacara holochlorus) es una especie de ave psitaciforme de la familia Psittacidae. Mide 30 cm de longitud. Es mayormente verdoso y tiene pico amarillo. Al contrario de las demás especies del género, su anillo ocular es muy atenuado. Habita desde México hasta el norte de Nicaragua. Algunos especímenes se establecieron en ciudades del sudeste de Texas; no está claro si proceden de escapes de mascotas o son divagantes silvestres emigrados desde el norte de México. En México se le encuentra principalmente en el sur (Chiapas) y en la planicie costera del Golfo (Veracruz y Tamaulipas), asimismo en la Sierra Madre Oriental (confluencia de Coahuila y Nuevo León) y en las Grandes Llanuras de Norteamérica (norte de Nuevo León y Tamaulipas); también se ha establecido en diversos puntos a lo largo de la vertiente del Pacífico. Los ejemplares salvajes viven en bosques, parques y aclareos de forestación. La población de estas aves en Estados Unidos usa mucho las palmeras de las ciudades. Los casales utilizan agujeros de árboles para anidar y desovar, donde pondrán de tres a cuatro huevos; también colonizan grietas en acantilados. La NOM-059-SEMARNAT 2010 considera a la especie como amenazada. Generalmente no es migratoria, pero puede desplazarse para conseguir alimento como frutos, semillas, maíz y sorgo. Debido a ello, a veces este perico es considerado una plaga y por eso es también cazado por muchos agricultores. Después de finalizada la estación de cría acostumbra formar grandes grupos. Se encuentra amenazado por el tráfico de mascotas y la pérdida de hábitat, aunque esté catalogado como especie bajo preocupación menor.
