Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland.

Der Vogel kommt in Ostafrika vor im äußersten Südosten der Demokratischen Republik Kongo, im äußersten Osten Angolas, in Kenia, Malawi, Mosambik, Sambia und Tansania.
