The Buru boobook (Ninox hantu) is a species of owl in the family Strigidae. It is found in Indonesia. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. It is threatened by habitat loss. It used to be considered a subspecies of the Moluccan boobook.
The Buru boobook is dark on the top with a bright rufous beneath it. Its forehead, cheeks, and chin are slight white, the tarsi and toes are filled with bristles, the bill is a horn-colored white, the irises are yellow, and their feet are white.

Sovice buruská (Ninox hantu) je druh sovy z čeledi puštíkovitých, který se vyskytuje v Indonésii. Jejím přirozeným prostředím jsou subtropické nebo tropické vlhké nížinné lesy a je ohrožena ztrátou přirozeného prostředí. Dříve byla považována za poddruh sovice molucké. Sovice buruská má tmavý hřbet a jasně rezavé břicho. Čelo, tváře a brada jsou lehce bělavé, běháky a prsty jsou pokryty štětinami, zobák má rohovinově bílou barvu, duhovky jsou žluté a nohy bílé.

Der Buru-Kauz (Ninox hantu) ist eine Eulenart aus der Familie der Strigidae, die in Indonesien beheimatet ist. De buruboeboekuil (Ninox hantu) is een vogel uit de familie Strigidae (Echte uilen). De vogel werd in 1863 door Alfred Russel Wallace geldig beschreven als aparte soort: Athene hantu. Hantu is maleis voor spook of geest, de plaatselijke bevolking noemde de uil burung hantu (spookvogel). Later werd de vogel ook wel als ondersoort beschouwd, maar volgens onderzoek gepubliceerd in 2017 kan de vogel toch als aparte soort worden opgevat.
