The Sri Lanka hanging parrot is a small hanging parrot that is 13 cm long with a short tail. The adult has a red crown and rump. The nape and back have on orange tint. The chin and throat are pale blue. The beak is red and the irises are white. Immature birds lack the orange hue to the back, have a duller rump, and have only a hint of orange on the crown. They have a faint blue throat. They have orange beaks and brown irises.
Sri Lanka hanging parrot is less gregarious than some of its relatives, and is usually alone or in small groups outside the breeding season. Its flight is swift and direct, and the call is a sharp whistled twiwittwit..twitwitwit. It undergoes local movements, driven mainly by the availability of the fruit, seeds, buds and blossoms that make up its diet. Sri Lanka hanging parrot is a bird of open forest. It is strictly arboreal, never descending to the ground. It nests in holes in trees, laying 2–3 eggs. Females are involved in building the nest while males mostly remain close, observing the females. Breeding season includes the first part of the year and sometimes July–September.

El lorículo de Ceilán es menos gregario que alguno de sus congéneres, y generalmente se encuentra solo o en pequeños grupos fuera de la época de cría. Su vuelo es rápido y directo. Realiza desplazamientos locales, dirigidos principalmente por la disponibilidad de frutos, semillas y brotes de flores y hojas que son la base de su dieta. El lorículo de Ceilán es un ave de bosques abiertos. Es estrictamente arborícola y nunca desciende al suelo. Anida en los huecos de los árboles, donde pone de dos a tres huevos.

Srilankanriippukaija (Loriculus beryllinus) on Sri Lankan kotoperäinen kaija. Lajin holotyypin kuvaili Johann Reinhold Forster Sri Lankasta 1781. Sillä ei ole alalajeja. Lajin aiempi nimi oli ceyloninriippukaija, nimi muuttui vuoden 2006 nimilistaukseen srilankanriippukaijaksi.
Srilankanriippukaija on noin 13 senttimetriä pitkä nokasta lyhyen pyrstön kärkeen. Srilankanriippukaija on suurimmaksi osaksi vihreä papukaijalintu. Sillä on päälaellaan tummanpunainen alue, joka jatkuu niskalle ja selälle ruskehtavana. Yläperä punainen. Nokka oranssi, jalat ruskehtavat, silmä vaalea. Sukupuolet melko samannäköiset, koiraalla hieman sinisempi kurkku. Nuoret ovat aikuisia vihertävämpiä ja niillä on tummemmat silmät.

Le Coryllis de Ceylan ou Loricule de Ceylan (Loriculus beryllinus) est une espèce de psittaculidés endémique du Sri Lanka.
C'est un petit perroquet d'environ 14 cm de long, à la queue courte. De teinte majoritairement verte, l'adulte présente des zones rouges sur la tête, le bec et le croupion, ainsi qu'une tache jaune-orangé sur le dos. Ces teintes vives sont absentes ou plus ternes chez le juvénile.
Il n'effectue que des déplacements locaux, principalement motivés par la disponibilité des fruits, graines, bourgeons et inflorescences qui constituent son régime alimentaire. Strictement arboricole, il ne descend jamais au sol, et préfère se percher tête en bas comme une chauve-souris (d'où son nom anglais de hanging parrot).
Peu grégaire, il est généralement solitaire ou en petit groupe en dehors de la saison des amours. Son vol est rapide et direct ; son cri est un sifflement sec touiouitouit. La femelle pond 2 à 3 œufs blancs dans un nid construit dans un trou dans un arbre.
Cette espèce est endémique du Sri Lanka. Elle est plus commune dans la zone humide de ce pays, mais peut se rencontrer au bord des rivières de la zone sèche. Elle préfère la végétation moins dense de la forêt intermédiaire.
