The white-bellied mountaingem or white-bellied mountain-gem (Lampornis hemileucus) is a species of hummingbird in tribe Lampornithini of subfamily Trochilinae. It is found in Costa Rica and Panama.
The white-bellied mountaingem is 10 to 11 cm (3.9 to 4.3 in) long. Males weigh about 6.2 g (0.22 oz) and females 5.1 g (0.18 oz). Both sexes have a medium-length black bill, a long white stripe behind the eye, and pinkish feet. Adult males' face and crown are glittering green, much of the rest of the upperparts bronzy green, and the uppertail coverts bronzy. The tail is also bronzy, with dusky gray bands near the end of the outer feathers. The gorget is blue-violet and the rest of the underparts white with green speckles along the sides. Adult females are similar, but the face and crown are less glittering and the throat is white with green speckles. Juveniles of both sexes have rusty fringes on the green feathers; males have a dull bronze gorget.
The white-bellied mountaingem is found on the Caribbean slope from north-central Costa Rica south and east into western Panama as far as Veraguas Province, and also locally on the Pacific slope in Panama. It inhabits the canopy of cool and very wet subtropical forest and also occurs at the shrub level at the forest edge and in gaps and clearings. It mostly shuns secondary forest and other semi-open landscapes.

Der Schnabel ist schwarz, die Beine sind dunkel fleischfarben. Ausgewachsene Männchen glitzern grün am Oberkopf und im Gesicht, das von einem weißen Hinteraugenstrich durchzogen ist. Der Rest der Oberseite ist bronzegrün, die Oberschwanzdecken und der Schwanz bronzefarben. Am Ende der Steuerfedern hat es ein dunkelgraues subterminales Band. Die Mitte der Kehle ist blauviolett, der Rest der Unterseite weiß mit grünen Flecken im hinteren Bereich. Die Weibchen ähneln den Männchen, glitzern aber am Oberkopf weniger. Außerdem fehlt die violett blaue Kehlfärbung. Das Ende der Steuerfedern ist grau gefleckt. Bei jungen Männchen kann das Glitzern am Kopf fehlen, und das Violett der Kehle ist durch eine stumpfe Bronzefärbung ersetzt. Jungtiere beider Geschlechter haben rostfarbenen Fransen an Kopf, Rücken, Bürzel und den Seiten.

El colibrí gorgivioleta (Lampornis hemileucus), también llamado colibrí montañés vientriblanco o gema de vientre blanco, es una especie de ave apodiforme de la familia Trochilidae —los colibríes— perteneciente al género Lampornis. Es nativo del sureste de América Central.
Se distribuye por las tierras altas de la vertiente caribeña desde el norte de Costa Rica hasta el oeste de Panamá (Veraguas); también se encuentra localmente en la vertiente del Pacífico de Panamá. Esta especie es considerada localmente muy común en sus hábitats naturales: el dosel t los bordes del bosque subtropical fresco y muy húmedo, descendiendo a nivel de arbustos a lo largo de bordes, brechas y zonas de sotobosque abierto; es poco frecuente en vegetación adyacente de crecimientos secundarios y semiabierta. Se reproduce en altitudes entre 700 y 1400 m en Costa Rica.
La especie L. hemileucus fue descrita por primera vez por el zoólogo británico Osbert Salvin en 1865 bajo el nombre científico Oreopyra hemileuca; su localidad tipo es: «Turrialba y Tucurriquí, Costa Rica».
