Abavorana luctuosa, also known as the Malaysian frog, mahogany frog or purple frog, is a species of true frog. It is found in the Malay Peninsula (Malaysia and southernmost Thailand) and in Borneo (Indonesia, Malaysia). It was formerly placed in the genus Hylarana.
Abavorana luctuosa is a leaf-litter frog from lowland and submontane primary rainforests, including somewhat disturbed habitats. Adult frogs disperse widely through the forest and breed in rain pools.
It is reddish to chocolate brown, bordered by a narrow cream dorsolateral line on each side, beginning at the tip of the snout to above the vent.

Vyskytuje se na Malajském poloostrově (Malajsie a nejjižnější Thajsko) a na Borneu (Indonésie, Malajsie). Dříve byla řazena do rodu Hylarana. Abavorana luctuosa je žába žijící v listovém opadu primárních nížinných a podhorských deštných lesů, včetně mírně narušených biotopů. Dospělci se široce rozptylují po lese a rozmnožují se v dešťových tůních. Je zbarvena od červenohnědé po čokoládově hnědou, s úzkým krémovým dorsolaterálním pruhem na každé straně, který začíná na špičce čenichu a sahá až nad kloaku.

Si trova nella Penisola malese (Malesia e Thailandia meridionale) e nel Borneo (Indonesia, Malesia). In precedenza era classificata nel genere Hylarana. Abavorana luctuosa vive nella lettiera delle foreste pluviali primarie di pianura e submontane, inclusi habitat parzialmente disturbati. Gli adulti si disperdono ampiamente nella foresta e si riproducono nelle pozze piovane. Abavorana luctuosa is een kikker uit de familie echte kikkers (Ranidae). De soort werd voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Wilhelm Peters in 1871. Oorspronkelijk werd de wetenschappelijke naam Limnodytes luctuosus gebruikt. De soort werd later toegekend aan verschillende geslachten zoals Rana, Hylarana en Pulchrana. De kikker is hierdoor in de literatuur bekend onder verschillende namen.
