The ashy-headed goose (Chloephaga poliocephala) is a species of waterfowl in tribe Tadornini of subfamily Anserinae. It is found in Argentina and Chile.
The ashy-headed goose is 50 to 60 cm (20 to 24 in) long. Males weigh 1.62 to 2.27 kg (3.6 to 5.0 lb) and females 1.47 to 1.49 kg (3.2 to 3.3 lb). Adults have the same plumage. Their heads and necks are gray, their upper back and breast chestnut with fine barring, their flanks barred black and white, and their belly white. In flight their blackish wings show bold white leading and trailing patches and a metallic green speculum. Their bill is black and the legs and feet orange with black markings. Juveniles' rufous areas are much duller, their back and breast barring stronger, and their speculum dark brownish.
The ashy-headed goose is a bird of South America's southern cone from central Chile and Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, south into Tierra del Fuego. It also occurs as vagrant on the Falkland Islands and has bred there. In summer it primarily inhabits clearings in damp forests of southern beech (Nothofagus sp.) around lakes and marshes, on inland islands, near the coast, and on higher ground. In winter it favors meadows and pastures.

Die Graukopfgans (Chloephaga poliocephala) ist ein südamerikanischer Vogel und gehört zur Familie der Entenvögel (Anatidae). Sie zählt zu den Halbgänsen und weist den für diese Unterfamilie charakteristischen gänseähnlichen Habitus auf. Ähnlich wie die Magellangans wird die Graukopfgans als Nahrungskonkurrent von Haustieren gesehen. Zu ihren wichtigsten Überwinterungsplätzen gehören die Weizenanbaugebiete in der Provinz Buenos Aires. Sie unterliegt deshalb einem entsprechenden Jagddruck. Insgesamt gilt die Art als zwar weit verbreitet, aber nicht häufig. Die wissenschaftliche Erstbeschreibung erfolgte 1857 durch Philip Lutley Sclater anhand eines auf Chiloé gesammelten Exemplars.

L'Ouette à tête grise (Chloephaga poliocephala) est une espèce d'oiseaux de la famille des Anatidae, proche des tadornes. Elle est appelée « Cauquén de cabeza gris » en espagnol ; « Ashy-headed goose » en anglais. Selon la classification de référence du Congrès ornithologique international (version 15.2, 2026), c'est une espèce monotypique (non subdivisée en sous-espèces).
Elle mesure entre 50 et 55 cm et est plus petite que l'Ouette de Magellan (Chloephaga picta). La tête est grise, le bec noir, la poitrine rousse, le ventre et les flancs sont blancs barrés de noir et le dessus du corps est brunâtre, les pattes orangé-noir. Le dimorphisme sexuel est faible, la femelle étant légèrement plus petite et plus terne.
Elle niche dans l'ouest de l'Argentine, au Chili et en Terre de Feu. Elle est également présente jusqu'aux Malouines.

L'oca testagrigia è un uccello dalla corporatura tozza lungo 50–55 cm; ha il dorso marrone chiaro, il collo castano e i fianchi bianchi striati di nero. La testa, di colore grigio, è più chiara sulla sommità. Il lato interno delle zampe è nero, mentre quello esterno è rosso. I sessi sono simili: il maschio, però, può avere striature ridotte sulle regioni inferiori o non averne affatto. Gli esemplari immaturi hanno un piumaggio scialbo e la testa marrone. In volo, questa specie rende ben visibili le penne primarie nere che spiccano sul resto delle ali, completamente bianche a eccezione di una larga fascia verde. Il richiamo del maschio consiste in un fischio di bassa frequenza, mentre la femmina emette un suono simile al gracchiare di un corvo.
Depone 4-6 uova in un nido costruito tra l'erba alta. Predilige le radure delle foreste umide di pianura e si nutre brucando l'erba; nuota solo raramente.
