Philby's partridge (Alectoris philbyi) or Philby's rock partridge, is a relative of the chukar, red-legged partridge and barbary partridges and is native to southwestern Saudi Arabia and northern Yemen. Although similar in appearance to other Alectoris species, Philby's partridge can be distinguished by its black cheeks and throat. Although not currently listed as an endangered species, the Arab Spring and destruction of its fragile habitat in the tribal areas of Northern Yemen had led to concerns about the survival of this species. The name commemorates the British explorer St John Philby.

Philbysteinhuhn (Alectoris philbyi) oder Philbys Steinhuhn, benannt nach Harry St. John Philby, ist eine Vogelart aus der Familie der Fasanenartigen (Phasianidae), die zur Ordnung der Hühnervögel (Galliformes) gehört.
Es ist eine im Südwesten der arabischen Halbinsel endemische Art. Es lebt auf mit Gras und niedrigem Buschwerk bewachsenen felsigen Berghängen und Schluchten ab einer Höhe von 1.500 Metern. Am häufigsten ist es in Gebirgslagen oberhalb von 2.400 Metern zu beobachten.
Das Gelege des Philbysteinhuhns besteht aus fünf bis acht Eiern. Die Küken schlüpfen nach einer Brutzeit von 25 bis 26 Tagen.

La perdiz gorginegra (Alectoris philbyi) es una especie de ave galliforme de la familia Phasianidae endémica del sur de Arabia (suroeste de Arabia Saudí y norte de Yemen). Es una especie cercanamente emparentada con la perdiz magna, la perdiz chukar, la perdiz roja y la perdiz griega. Si bien es de apariencia similar a las otras especies de perdices Alectoris, la perdiz gorginegra se distingue fácilmente por sus mejillas y garganta negras. Aunque no se encuentra en la lista de especies amenazadas, los conflictos bélicos y la destrucción de su frágil hábitat en las zonas tribales del norte de Yemen ha aumentado la preocupación en cuanto a la supervivencia de la especie.
